I consider this is now finished. It’s been on and off the easel for the past three years!
Following my current theme on abstraction by stratification of the natural environment. This depicts a deep river valley, Tavy Cleve, on Dartmoor overshadowed by Ger Tor. On bad weather days the valley feels menacing and oppressive. The mountain towers over you, giving fear and trepidation that it is on the verge of tumbling down on you. The red and purple tones reflect this and signify the heat and pressures that created this landscape and the danger that increasing global temperatures may send it back to that time. I’ve used the vertical bands to signify time – whether it be days, weeks, years or millions of years.
