New painting in the gallery

My other passion is rock climbing. I was a member of our local mountain rescue team and quickly became addicted to climbing. Rock climbing routes are all graded according to their difficulty. Climbers are always striving to achieve the next highest grade. Each rock face may contain many routes to the summit, and with differing grade on each route.

This painting is inspired by a rock face with many routes – the next higher grade indicated by a fear factor of red. The sport has it’s dangers. Each climber pits their wits and skills to overcome the fear of the rock and climb to the summit of elation.

‘A Grade Higher’, 30 x 24 inches. Acrylic on canvas
